About Me

Hello world! It’s me, Jeanette, your average mom doing average mom things. I have two little minions at home. I left my professional career when I had my youngest so now I’m a stay-at-home mom and wife. I’ve been married to my husband (who is also my high school sweetheart) for almost 13 years now! I’m living the dream. 🤩

What else should I tell you about? I’m an avid crafter and bookworm. I love baking and cake decorating. I love being outside in my garden in the warm weather. I’m a fur mom to two tuxedo cats. I do love animals. I use to take the little ones to the zoo as often as I could when they were teeny! It was mostly for myself, though.  I LOVE Pinterest. It’s is my bible!! I love being inspired by other women around the world. I’m a huge believer in building other women up. I spent my two mat leaves working with a non-profit organization to help women deal with post-partum depression. That’s when I realized how isolating it can be, to be a woman and a mother. I’m not cool with that. So I spent time meeting up with other moms, talking to them, listening to them, and (hopefully) making some sort of difference in their lives. 🥰

Now, believe me, all of the above sounds so rosy and lovely. Something you might see in a Normal Rockwell painting or greeting card. Let me assure you, dear reader, that my life is far from that picture you have in your head. I am currently using cannabis vaping to help me deal with medical issues that I have. And boy do I have them! In fact, they’re crippling. I am no longer that lovely, happy picture I painted for you. Things are quite difficult for me in my present world. I craft only on occasion now. I just started reading a little now, the first time in three years. I HATE baking and cooking now as they take too much time and effort. More time and effort than I have at the moment. Gardening is the same, except that being outside in the heat and sun are so incredibly painful for me. It’s just not worth it. So that’s who I am, a person who has no energy or desire to do much around the house, let alone for myself (self-care is a hot topic right now, isn’t it?) or my family. I do the barebones around my house now. I don’t even recognize myself anymore. 😭

As for unicorns, don’t worry, I don’t actually see them.  I do, however, struggle with mental health issues. So much so that I have been seeing a therapist for years now. More on that another time. Since it makes people uncomfortable to discuss mental health issues, I use unicorns as a euphemism for mental health issues. So, I see a special doctor every month to talk about my unicorns.

That’s enough of me for the moment. More later. I started this blog as a method of reaching out to others to help them realize that their ‘unicorns’ are not as unique as they think. I want to help them understand that they are not alone. I’m also hoping that this blog acts in a cathartic manner for me. Finally, as cannabis is now legal where I live, I also want to demystify its use.

I hope I don’t attract too much negativity with this blog. Nobody needs that in their life. So, I hope you find something helpful here. If not, no need to keep reading. #AboutMe #MomPotUnicorns
